POWFIND FIELD NOTES

Build an Ikon road trip around ski days and workdays

Start with a compact region instead of a list of famous mountains. Each transfer consumes time and adds a chance of delay. Staying two nights in one place often gives you a better chance to ski a storm than moving every evening.

Check your exact pass

Ikon affiliation alone does not establish that your pass works on a particular date. Confirm your tier, reservation requirements, blackout dates, shared day limits and remaining days with the issuer. PowFind treats affiliations as provisional planning hints; it does not track your personal remaining access.

Protect your work hours

Use weekday-only skiing or a cap on ski days per calendar week. The planner holds rest/work days in place, but it cannot verify Wi-Fi, workspace quality or cellular service. Ask lodging providers about a real desk and connectivity before reserving a remote-work stay.

Budget for the return

Fuel estimates use miles, MPG and the fuel price you enter, in US gallons and USD. Winter conditions, roof boxes and mountain roads can reduce efficiency. Canadian pump prices are usually quoted per liter in CAD, so convert them before entering a blended estimate. Include parking, tires, tolls and lodging separately.

Leave the route editable

The planner rewards forecast snow and penalizes long transfers and revisiting earlier stops. It is a heuristic, not a globally optimal itinerary. It also keeps each stop within the selected return-home driving limit. Re-run it as forecasts change, and verify the actual roads and weather with local authorities.

Book the boring essentials first

Start with cancellable lodging, legal parking and a vehicle equipped for local conditions. A flexible trip is only flexible when you can safely change the plan.
